Throughout 2023 the Midland Railway Society, under the stewardship of the late David Geldard, spent a lot of time discussing and ultimately agreeing a wholesale revision of its Constitution to bring it more in line with the current guidance of the Charity Commission. The last time it had been revised was following the merger with the Roy F Burrows Midland Collection Trust and before that on becoming a charity. Allied with this, a completely new set of Policies and Procedures, again based on Charity Commission guidance, have been drawn-up.
The Constitution was approved by our Membership at the 2024 Annual General Meeting and the Policies and Procedures were similarly approved by the Executive Committee at their meeting following that AGM. A revised Financial Controls Policy was approved by the Executive Committee on 22nd August 2026.
The Policies and Procedures cover areas such as dealing with instances of bullying, a complaints procedure and financial matters.
