Changes on the Executive Committee

Midland Railway Society text with the 1907 armorial device

Unfortunately our Membership Secretary, Colin Glenister is suffering with ill-health and has, reluctantly, felt compelled to stand-down from that role and as a Trustee. Obviously we are very sorry that this is the case, but on the bright side, Colin has agreed to remain on the Executive Committee as a general member so we don’t lose his valued input altogether. In his place we have co-opted not just one, but two past-Presidents of the Society to join the EC; Andy Brown and Jamie Guest. In light of Colin’s decision, the EC have further co-opted Andy as a Trustee under clause 20(12) of our Constitution. He will be standing for election as a Trustee at April’s AGM.

Members can find out more about both Andy and Jamie as their biographies are added to the Members’ page.

While carrying out this housekeeping exercise the Trustees have resolved minor constitutional issue by appointing Andy as our Vice-Chairman. We are required to have the four “principal” posts of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer filled as we approach the AGM. With Stephen Lea acting as Treasurer, Andy fills that gap perfectly.

Which brings us to perhaps the most important point; we now need a new Membership Secretary as well as a new Treasurer. Members will receive the next issue of the Newsletter in the first week or so of March (in its new A4 format!) and Adrian’s “Chairman’s Chunterings” will go into more detail on all this, but in the interim, Stephen is valiantly carrying on both roles.  Can you help us out?
