The Midland Railway divided its working time tables into sections, which were issued as individual booklets or bound into full sets. The page numbering ran continuously through the sections, so that the tables in this section start at page 191. Until 1917, both passenger and freight trains were listed together.
Section G covered services on the lines of the former Midland Counties Railway, opened between Nottingham and Derby in May 1839 becoming the first railway to reach the town that would become the centre of the Midland railway, Derby. Also covered is the southward extension to Leicester opening in May 1840, Trent where these lines diverged and which became a major railway junction, and Toton sidings non the Erewash Valley line which developed into one of the largest marshalling yards in the country.
Essential reading for modellers and students of Midland Railway operating practices.
