By Vic Mitchell and Keith Smith. Published by Middleton Press, Hardback, 96 Pages, 120 B/W Photographs, Large Scale Maps.
This volume is the usual mixture of timetables, maps, photographs with well-written captions and an eclectic range of ephemera, such as tickets and advertisements. The book illustrates much of what has been lost forever; not just the locomotives and rolling stock but the disappearance of a wonderful steam-age infrastructure.
Anyone contemplating building a model of any of the locations illustrated will find this work invaluable. Indeed, anyone modelling Midland Railway practice and its successors should find plenty of inspiration.
