By Chris Booth, published by Platform 5.  Softback, 176pages profusely illustrated with colour and B/W photographs, maps and tables.

The Nottinghamshire town of Worksop was served by both the Midland and the Great Central Railways in the steam era and became a focal point of the region’s coal traffic, serving many collieries and industries. This volume explores the former Midland railway line between Worksop and Mansfield, along with the connecting MR branch lines and former collieries along the route. It covers the period before, during and after the closure of the mainline to passenger services following the Beeching Report, freight operations and the reopening as the Robin Hood Line in the 1990s, along with the rise a fall of the branch lines.

Local author Chris Booth worked as a signaller at Worksop for over 40 years and has drawn upon extensive research and his own unique insights to produce this detailed survey. Over 500 illustrations include images from steam days through to the present.
