The Midland Railway Society’s collection was started by Roy F Burrows in the 1940s and is now generally recognised as one of national significance. It is devoted to the Midland Railway prior to it’s merger to form the London Midland & Scottish Railway on 1 January 1923. The collection became a registered charity in 2000 and merged with the Midland Railway Society in February 2016. It is housed in the Midland railway Study Centre, part of The Museum of Making at the Silk Mill in Derby and comprises over 50,000 items.

This book covers a brief history of the Collection  and covers items of memorabilia including hotel china, silver plate, timetables, publicity, tickets, signalling, uniforms and many others.

A fascinating insight into one of Britain’s finest railway companies.
