Spirits of the Midland Railway 2026

We are delighted to announce the release of a long-awaited second instalment of our Spirits of the Midland Railway series. The first edition was produced in lieu of a Presidential Address in the year following Covid. The latest tour of the final resting places of a dozen or more Midland Railway employees came about through our  supporting the Friends of the Nottingham Road Cemetery with their Heritage Open Day this year. Dave Harris led two groups around these grave sites located within the beautiful and sprawling cemetery at Derby, relating the stories of those who lie within… often including details of their eventual demise.

The video has been posted to the Midland Railway Society’s new but growing YouTube channel, where the first edition can also be found, or this link will take you directly to the 2026 Edition.

No word yet on when, or if, there will be a Third production – but with no shortage of source material, there is a very strong probability of Spirits 2027!
