Alstom’s once in a generation celebration of railway history at Litchurch Lane is barely days away and, as you might imagine, is taking up a lot of time on the part of the Society. We are really looking forward to it and are most grateful, not only to Alstom for the invitation, but most of all to those of our Members who have volunteered to help out. See you there!

Meanwhile…
With 12,500 visitors descending on Derby each day between 1st – 3rd August, there is a lot else happening in the city to coincide with the event and keep railway enthusiasts interested. The Derwent Valley Community Rail partnership, in collaboration with several other organisations, is hosting an event in Derby’s newly refurbished fantastic Guildhall Market over that weekend. The Midland Railway Society is supporting the event by displaying our information-rich series of pop-banners that provide a detailed look at many Midland Railway-related subjects.
- Origins of the Midland Railway
- Early years of the Midland
- Locomotives

If you are a Midland Railway Society Member and you are able to visit Derby that weekend (perhaps in conjunction with with a visit to the Alstom event) please visit the Guildhall in the city centre and spend some time there talking to people about your interest. Remember you don’t have to be an “expert”, just chat! Thanks.
